Intraditional Navajo belief, skinwalkers are witches capable of transforming into animals.Unlike medicine people, who use their powers for healing, skinwalkers are believed touse their abilities for harmful purposes such as causing death, illness, and misfortune(Kluckhohn). These beings are considered forbidden to discuss openly in Navajo culture.Their supernatural abilities are said to include shapeshifting, mind control, andextraordinary strength and speed.Another major theory explaining the phenomena at Skinwalker Ranch is UFOsightings. According to Blumenthal, the UFO sightings at the ranch are among the mostwidely reported and studied. Witnesses describe mysterious lights, structured craft, andorbs demonstrating intelligent behavior. Some researchers argue that the objects observedcould be advanced military aircraft, possibly tested in secret at nearby facilities such asDugway Proving Ground and Hill Air Force Base (Blumenthal).
